My first tattoo. I had this done at Skunx in Islington, London by Kerry. It’s not quite finished yet, the frame still needs some work. I picked two magpies because I’ve always been superstitious and not a day goes by where I’m not quoting ‘one for sorrow, two for joy’. It was such an enjoyable experience and I’m thrilled with it so far. Kerry is a delight as an artist and as a person, she couldn’t have made me feel more welcome or more comfortable.

As a writer, if someone got a tattoo of my characters (myself not included), I don’t know whether I’d be more pleased or horrified. That level of dedication…wow.

Though I really hate Twilight, I have to admit, I’d love to see these tattoos in a better photo. The art looks really good, and all of that detail…oooh. I can’t even imagine how much this cost, it must have taken forever to get finished. This lady is going to be quite fascinating when she gets old.

One of these days I want to get my swallows. :)

I think my limited knowledge of sailor tattoos has finally come in handy!

Shutter Island. I never noticed these tattoos before. If I’m not mistaken, that’s a swallow on the right (or his left) of his chest. A single swallow would mean he’s travelled over 5,000 nautical miles. Two swallows are 10,000 nautical miles. Those swallow tattoos, usually on the chest or neck, were used as a way to show off your seafaring abilities/experience.

The tattoo on the left (his right) looks like a nautical star. I don’t know the exact meaning of that one, but I’ve heard it’s similar to the old compass roses that you would see on maps. Perhaps it’s a symbol of how he’s living his life (he being the character Leonardo DiCaprio is playing — I keep wanting to call him Danny Archer but THAT’S NOT HIM).

Anyway, yaaaaaay. (All credit, however, must go to N’kio, because he was the prompt for me to learn more about things like this.)

If this is wrong I’m going to be a sad, sad Chloe.

Got this done by Peter Joseph @ Legendary Tattoos ( Tarpon springs, FL)  My fiancee introduced me to Doctor Who and I fell in love with it.  It took about 2 1/2 hours, he used no line work and just did it straight through!  Pain wasn’t unbearable, bled a lot but it was worth it :)

my red riding hood tattoo. done by Jimmy from blue horseshoe tattoo. red riding hood has been my favourite fairytale, i like that its a dark tale. i chose to get this piece to remind myself that it is always okay to ‘stray off the path’. 

I LOVE IT.

I like it even more now that it’s in sharpie, and therefore darker.
